Free full-featured photo viewer

The standard photo viewer in Windows is quite limited in functions and features, so I'd recommend you use a third-party viewer.

Shock View is probably one of the best choices around: a lightweight, intuitive yet full-featured photo viewer packed with some interesting tools with which you can do some basic editing to your photos in a very easy way.

The program's interface follows the traditional viewer scheme of disk structure on the left side, contents of the selected folder displayed as thumbnails on the right side and a small preview window where you can see the selected picture. Also, a double-click on any thumbnail will open it up in full screen.

Besides viewing photos, you can also use Shock View to do small editing tasks such as rotating, resizing, cropping, converting from one format to another and even removing the red-eye effect. On a more creative side you can also add a frame or border to your pictures (with quite a few to choose from) and also fun clipart like notes, comic balloons and several other signs and symbols.

Shock View is generally easy to use, though the clipart area needs to be improved to make it more usable. Now it doesn't support drag and drop, and the text tool doesn't let you preview font appearance before adding the text field to the image – and once you've added it, you can't update it with changes.

Shock View is a lightweight, full featured photo viewer with basic editing tools, perfect for simple everyday tasks.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
